Dentists of the Future in Room 1

It has been a fantastic few weeks in Room 1 exploring 'The Dental Surgery.' The children observed the different areas in a Dental Surgery, investigated the work of a dentist and identified the different types and function of teeth. It has been a hugely interesting fortnight.

Creative Station

At the Creative Station the children designed a toothbrush using coloured crepe paper. They also painted a healthy snack and pasted it on a paper plate. The boys and girls know it is very important to care for their teeth by brushing them twice a day and eating healthy food such as fruits and vegetables. Check out the artists at work and beautiful displays in the images below.

SESE Station

The children observed and discussed a poster of a Dental Surgery. They became aware of the instruments, equipment and protective gear used by a dentist during consultations with patients. The boys and girls also examined an image of teeth. They learned the function and names of different types of teeth. Ms Martin was very impressed with the excellent concentrating and listening skills at this station.

Fine Motor Station

The children were very busy at this station. They engaged in a range of enjoyable activities. The boys and girls used play dough to make dental equipment and protective gear. They also cut and pasted food into two categories 'healthy' and 'unhealthy.'

Role - play Area

The children adopted the roles of various people in a dentist including the receptionist, dental nurse, dentist and patient. The mini dentists used dental equipment such as probes, syringes and mirrors to examine their patient's teeth. They wore protective gear like masks, gloves and face visors. All patients left the dental room with big sparkly smiles!

Ms Martin is very proud of the wonderful workers in Room 1. She is sure there are dentists of the future in the class.

And what a party it turned out to be! Check out the children sippin some hot coco and enjoying the movie!!

The boys and girls thoroughly deserved this Christmas treat as they proved they can work hard and work as a team to earn the stars.

To all of the families of the boys and girls in 4th and 5th class I wish you all a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
