Term 3 round up!

School is nearly out for the summer! Here is a round up of some of the things we've been up to in junior and senior infants this term!

We went on a nature walk and Daniel found this lovely ladybird! We were very very excited and decided to learn all about the ladybird's lifecycle and even paint our own ladybirds.

We read 'The Tiger Who Came to Tea' by Judith Kerr. We watched the channel 4 film of it which we all loved. We made our own 'Tiger Who Came to Tea' mural. As a treat, and for all of our hard work, we had our own tea party!

We learned the names of buildings as Gaeilge like siopa, ospidéal, bialann and lots others! We made our own little village using the cereal boxes everyone kindly brought in. Here we are hard at work making them.

We were so lucky to have some sunny weather (even if it was short-lived!) so we made the most of it and did some art al fresco!

We were very excited to have a visit from Maperath Farm! We learned a great deal and had a lot of fun, especially giggling at the pigs!

Wishing you all a lovely, safe summer!

Sports Day 2021

Our annual Sports Day in Scoil Mhuire took place last Friday, 18th June. The boys and girls had a terrific day. Mr Sun also behaved himself for the day which made the whole experience even better. Bubble 2 took part in a variety of activities including an obstacle course, relay races, target shooting/throwing and lots more.

Zone 1 was located on the astro turf, this was where all our races took place. Our races on the day included an egg and spoon race, sack race, three legged race, wheelbarrow race and a running forward and backward race. The children were excellent participants throughout, however, lets just say not all of our eggs survived!!!

Zone 2 contained an obstacle course with lots of different hurdles. The children had to run as fast as they could through the course whilst running in zig-zags, jumping through hoops and ladders as well as leaping over the final hurdles towards the end.

Zone 3 contained activities involving target shooting, bean bag throwing, ring throwing and basketball hoop shooting. Ms Martin was putting the pressure on the boys and girls as they worked their way through each activity. Maith sibh everyone!

We finished off our day with a delicious ice-lolly. It was just what we needed after an active day in the sun. Well done to all the boys and girls in what was a truly memorable sports day.

Maperath Farm Visit

The boys and girls in 'Bubble 2' were delighted to welcome Eoin Sharkey and 'Maperath Fram' to Scoil Mhuire on Wednesday last. Eoin delivered an excellent presentation on each of the animals and we learned lots of new and interesting facts. Eoin brought along his pigs, goats, sheep, cow and chickens to show off and they didn't disappoint.

Even the teachers learned a thing or two. I bet you don't know what a 'Mammy Goat' is called? Well, we do! 😀 Ask the boys and girls at home and see if they can remember this one!

Kate Sharkey in 2nd Class was proud as punch helping her Daddy and showing off all her lovely animals, Kate even told us about how her goat eats her socks from the washing line!! Check out our fabulous photos below of our fun filled day.

Ms Malone, Ms Martin and all the boys and girls in 'Bubble 2' would like to thank Eoin and Maperath Farm for visiting us. We had a wonderful day and we look forward to seeing the animals again soon!
