Seachtain na Gaeilge le Seomra a hAon

Fáilte go dtí Seachtain na Gaeilge le Seomra a hAon. Rang a Dó and Rang a Trí had an excellent week in school celebrating the native Irish language. The boys and girls engaged in lots of enjoyable activities incorporating many aspects of the Irish culture.

An Dreoilín

The week started with a whole school performance of ‘An Dreoilín’ in the yard. There was lots of practising in the classroom before the big show.

Biongó Gaeilge

A game of Biongó 'as Gaeilge’ was played on Tuesday. There was lots of lines, panels and full houses marked by the children - that’s the luck of the Irish for you!

Ceolchoirm sa Chlós

Traditional Irish songs could be heard coming from Seomra a hAon each day this week. All the children from Bubble Two sang ‘Nead na Lachan’ beautifully at the ceolchoirm. Ms Martin and Ms Malone were so proud of their classes.

Suaitheantais

The children made traditional St Patrick’s Day badges using card in the national colours on Thursday. Check them out below.

Céilí

The whole week culminated with a céilí on Lá Glas. The school yard was rocked by Ballaí Luimnigh and An Damhsa Mór to name but a few traditional dances taught during the week. Everybody came to school dressed in green to celebrate the end of a very successful week.

It is no wonder that Seachtain na Gaeilge is eagerly awaited every year. It was a great week and enjoyed by all.

Ms Martin and the children would like to express their sincere thanks to Múinteoir Clíona for organising such a brilliant event to promote the Irish language.
