Scoil Mhuire Moynalty is thrilled to be participating in the Farm Safe Schools programme this year. The aim of this exciting programme is to engage, educate and empower children to become farm safety ambassadors. Scoil Mhuire hope to complete three different modules in order to receive the ‘Farm Safe School’ award at the end of the year.
Ms Martin and Ms Malone are delighted to announce that the Farm Safe Schools Journey is successfully up and running in Bubble Two. The boys and girls engaged in Module One ‘Farmer, Farm and Field Safety’ before the Easter break. It was a fantastic learning experience for the children. The teachers even learned a thing or two about improving safety measures on farms.Topic 1 - Farm Visit Checklist
Topic 2 - Know the Safety Signs
The pupils also completed a worksheet inviting them to organise safety signs into the correct groups. Scroll down to see the children at work.
Lastly the children learned about working at heights and how to avoid trips and falls on a farm. The children discussed and recorded the main causes of falls on farm yards and safety measures to prevent such accidents.
The children have thoroughly enjoyed engaging in Module One and can’t wait to delve into the content of Module Two. There are definitely some Farm Safety Officers of the future amongst Bubble Two.
