Junior Infants March News

Junion Infants March News

We had a very busy month learning lots and working on fun initiatives in March. We learned all about Spring. In English, we focused on the story of The Very Hungry Caterpillar. In science, we learned all about the Butterfly while in Geography, we explored the signs of Spring. We learned about Ireland 100 years ago in history. We completed our Jungle Journey block of P.E. and gross motor activities and began our Finger Gym work on fine motor skills. On world book day, we dressed up as our favourite characters. It was lots of fun. This month, we did lots of work about St. Patrick and Easter. We were very busy learning but we had great fun.

We learned all about Spring.

Our Aistear this month was all about Spring. We completed lots of fun activities such as Making Spring creatures and flowers with playdough, playing Bingo using Spring words, making spring animals with fabric and fibre and planting flowers. We even had our own Garden centre!

S.E.S.E

As we were learning about Spring, we explored lots of signs of Spring in Geography. We learned all about Butterflies and made our own Butterfly life cycles on using paper plates.

In history, we learned all about Ireland 100 years ago and talked about the Easter 1916 rising. We explored some old pictured of Ireland in the past. Then we looked at some pictures of Ireland today and talked about how it has changed.

Jungle Journey

This month, we finished our Jungle Journey. We really enjoyed all of the activities as we explored and imagined a Journey through the jungle. Throwing, catching, tearing, finger painting, tracing, jumping, crawling and hopping were only some of the skills we practiced. We loved Jungle Journey!

Finger Gym for fine motor skills

We started a fun initiative this month called Finger Gym. As part of this initiative, we tried very hard to build up our muscles in our fingers and hands to help us develop good writing skills. We worked very hard with teacher, Mrs. Ward and some helpful boys and girls in 5th and 6th class at lots of different activities.
