2nd Class 2016 -2017

We are delighted to be back at school! We have been so busy already. Here are some of the interesting and fun things we've been doing in class with Ms. McHale.

Visit from Fr. Julian

In early September , we had a very special visitor; Fr. Julian from Romania. He was visiting Fr. Joe for the week and came to see our school. He is studying in Rome, Italy at the moment.
He was very kind and spoke to us about Jesus and about love and hope. He also taught us a lovely song about Jesus. It was a really nice way to start off the school year.

Religion

We are really enjoying our new Religion Programme called Grow in Love. We learned about Jesus and his followers, the 12 apostles.
Finn, Jack and Ellie made a sea and a boat for the 12 apostles. the rest of the class each had an apostle to colou. The boat is is now displayed in our sacred space at the back of the classroom.

Can you name the 12 apostles?

Art

Recently, we spent a couple of weeks working on art projects made from recycled materials. We worked in groups and chose a famous landmark in Ireland to build. We used all sorts of recycled things like cereal boxes, toilet rolls, egg cartons and cardboard boxes.
Our teacher was very impressed because we showed great imagination and really good teamwork. Have a look at our projects below!

Kells Round Tower by Chloe, Ellie and Shannon

The Titanic Museum in Belfast by Ellie -Mai, Emma and Molly

Tayto Park by Carleen and Paige

Visit from author John Quinn

Following on from our book week celebrations, we were thrilled to have author John Quinn visit our school. Our teacher had been reading Specky Becky Bucks to us every day and we really loved it. It is about a girl who is brilliant at GAA and her dream is to play in Croke Park. We thought it was very funny and loved the ending! It was great to listen to the author talk about what you need to be a good writer.
