Oíche Shamhna.

Happy HOWL-OWEEN break to everyone from all the boys and girls in Seomra 2! The children have had a FAB-BOO-LOUS final few days learning about different Halloween traditions as well as creating some spooktakular artwork! We had a great afternoon participating in our 'Spider Races' - focusing on the forces 'Push and Pull'.

Ms Malone was super impressed by all the effort put into the children's Halloween costumes. Well done to everyone again and I hope you all have a FANG-TASTIC midterm break!!

Wonderful Workers in Room 1

The children recently focused on the topic 'School' during Aistear. The boys and girls enjoyed learning about the different areas in a school building. They also identified the many people who help to keep school communities safe and happy learning environments. Scroll down to view all the children have explored over the last few weeks.

                                                            Creative Station

The children worked very hard to design a picture of Scoil Mhuire using a mosaic pattern. Ms Martin was very proud of the children's excellent cutting and pasting skills. Check out the beautiful masterpieces created by the children below.

SESE Station

At the SESE station, the children were very busy. The boys and girls named people who work in a school building and listed their duties. They also worked like scientists to discover the materials used to build items in a classroom.

Fine Motor Station

The boys and girls made classroom items using playdough. Some children made the school bus, students playing football on the yard and tasty treats to bring in for lunch.

Role - play Area

The classroom role-play area was a huge success! The children adopted the roles of many people in a school community.

It has been a wonderful fortnight in Room 1. It is no doubt there are teachers, principals, SNAs and secretaries of the future amongst the children in Room 1.

Fantastic Friends in Room 1

Scoil Mhuire Moynalty celebrated ‘Friendship Week’ this week. It was a fun filled few days learning about building friendships, appreciating one another’s differences and encouraging each other through kind words and actions.

In Room 1 the children played cooperative games, sang songs, listened to stories and discussed the qualities of a good friend. They also completed wonderful drawings of themselves and their friends displayed below. Ms Martin is so proud of the children’s masterpieces.

Undoubtedly it was a successful week. All the children were reminded of the true meaning and value of friendship. Ms Martin and the children wish to thank Ms Ormiston for organising such a fantastic event for the whole school.

Friendship Week in Room 2

After a busy first month back in school, it was wonderful be able to celebrate Friendship Week and everyone being back together again. There was great singing to our friendship songs each day, we particularly enjoyed Bruno Mars' song 'Count on Me'.

During PE, we played co-operative games which focused on everyone working together as a team to get through a variety of tasks. There was excellent encouragement from everyone which was brilliant to both hear and see! The children also discussed what traits and features are important in a friend. Check out some of the fantastic work below.

Scoil Mhuire celebrated the fact that the school values its pupils as individuals by holding an 'Odd Shoe Day'. Pupils came to school in an array of odd shoes – from wellies to slippers! The day focused on celebrating and recognising the strengths of individuals and nurturing talent.

We ended our Friendship Week on a high by wearing yellow. It was a beautiful and bright end to a wonderful week. Well done to all the children on their excellent participation throughout the week.
