It's the Most Wonderful Time of the Year!
Junior Infants have been as busy as the elves in Santa's workshop in the run up to Christmas. We have been working very hard in Finger Gym and in Aistear. We have learned a lot about Winter, the weather, arctic animals and about the Story of Christmas. Have a look at what we have been getting up in Room 6!
Christmas Tree Designs
In finger gym, we all designed and decorated our own individual Christmas trees. We then cut them out and put all the triangular trees together to make one large collaborative class Christmas tree. I think that you will agree that the Junior Infant work is tree-mendous!
A Chubby Little Snowman
In science we were learning about different types of materials. In art we used soft and fluffy cotton balls to decorate two paper plates. We then used felt to decorate and dress our snowmen up.
We learned a song about a chubby little snowman and we wondered was he friends with Frosty the Snowman!
Christmas Cube pictures and Pom Pom activities
We used the cubes to follow the Christmas patterns. We had a great time making the pictures of Wreaths, Santa and reindeer. We thought that it would be tricky but it was easy to follow the pattern. Our fingers are getting stronger by the day.
We then used the tweezers and pom poms to create different Christmas pictures. We really enjoyed making Christmas stockings, Santa, angels, and candy cakes with the pom poms.
The First Christmas
We have been learning about the story of Christmas in religion. Christmas is a very special time of year and Jesus was born on Christmas day. We learned all about Mary and Joseph's trip to Bethlehem and how the innkeeper was kind enough to let them stay in his stable. We also learned about all the visitors to the stable that night and how the Three Wise Men were guided by a bright star.
We made our own stable to retell the story.
On behalf of Junior Infants, we would like to wish everyone a very merry Christmas and a happy new year!
