March and April Acvities in Junior and Senior Infants

March and April Activities in Junior and Senior Infants

Junior and Senior Infants learned all about occasions such as St. Patrick's day and Easter over the month of March and the beginning of April.

Ireland and St. Patrick

We completed lots of fun activities based around our learning theme of 'Ireland'. We learned all about the St. Patrick as part of our Religion and History. In geography, we looked at the map of Ireland and found Meath and Cavan on the map. In Irish, we were busy learning St. Patrick's day songs and words and in PE we even learned 'An damhsa mór' and 'an Dreolín', aswell as participating in GAA activities every Thursday morning.  We explored how people celebrate St. Patrick's day in Ireland and our Aistear stations were also based around St. Patrick's day. As part of this, we made St. Patrick's day hats which turned out really well.

In our science, we learned about the parts of a plant and what plants need to grow. We planted our very own sunflower seeds and watched them begin to grow. Just before Easter, they were growing so tall that we each brought our own pot home.

Easter

As part of getting ready for Easter, we learned all about the life cycle of a chick. We red the story of the Little Red hen and sequenced it as part of our history. We designed maps of the little red hen's farm as part of our geography and sequenced the stages in the life cycle of a chick for our science. We learned a song about a Spring Chicken as part of our Music. Just before Easter, a special visitor arrived in our school when she hatched out of her shell just before the Easter break. There was great excitement when the chick hatched.

Our Aistear activities were all based around the Easter theme as well. We made lovely Easter baskets made from clay and on the last day of school before the holidays, they were filled with Easter treats!
